Doug Wehrkamp
President and Chief Operating Officer
Career:
President and COO Doug Wehrkamp joined SEC in 1993 as the Engineering Manager and also served as the General Manager for both the NH and VA operations. Doug then served as the Corporate Technical Director prior to assuming the role of Chief Operating Officer and President in 2012. Doug has over 39 years of PET/HDPE manufacturing experience starting with Owens Illinois in Toledo, OH in 1984, followed by time with Apple Container, a PET manufacturing operation for New York Coca-Cola Bottling Company prior to joining SEC.
Education:
Doug earned his BS in Engineering Technology from the University of Dayton and his Masters in Finance from Seton Hall University. He also earned the Executive Leadership Certificate from the University of Notre Dame in 2012.
Social/Community:
Doug is active in the local community, supporting a variety of efforts such as the annual Backpack Drive and Bike-to-School campaigns. Doug is an avid supporter of United Way and served as the 2003 Frederick County, VA Campaign Director raising over $1.2 million for local non-profits. In 2017, Doug was involved in a successful campaign to bring a local YMCA facility to the Enka-Candler area. In addition, SEC has provided initial capital campaign funding for this project.
Personal:
Born in Ohio and raised on a poultry farm, Doug has always valued hard work and dedication to his job, his friends and his family. Doug has been married for 29 years to his wife Kelley Ann, and they have two children: a daughter who graduated from USC and works in Jacksonville, FL and a son who graduated from Clemson University and works in Charlotte, NC.. Doug enjoys golf, skiing, and all ND athletics.
